This bitless bridle, often referred to as the “Cook system,” works through crossed reins and provides even pressure distribution across the nose, cheeks, and poll. The reins are attached to side rings through which the crossed straps run, creating the characteristic action of this system.

The anatomically shaped noseband sits on the firm part of the horse’s nose and should be properly adjusted to ensure optimal function. The crossed straps run beneath the jaw, distributing pressure evenly on both sides while preventing the bridle from twisting.
When the reins are applied, the crossing creates an indirect, finely adjustable pressure. Individual rein aids act on the opposite side of the head, while even contact results in combined pressure on the nose, cheeks, and poll. This supports precise guidance, bending, and control of pace.
